Accent Pathology Treatment: the TH-guidou app
I am Brazilian. My English is fluent, but a handful of sounds still give me away, and once in a while they cost a beat of clear communication: a θ that lands as a "t", a "beach" that drifts toward a word I did not mean. The goal here is not to erase the accent, it is to stop the few traps that get in the way of being understood.
This is a self-serve clinic for exactly those traps. Pick one, hear it the native way and the Brazilian way, record yourself, and play your own against the native. Your ear does the diagnosis. Mark again on the ones that still sting; mark got it on the ones that healed. New to the symbols? Open the IPA guide and tap any sound to hear it.
Your recording never leaves your device: it is held in memory in your browser, never uploaded, never saved. Works best in a recent Chrome or Safari; the "record" step asks for microphone permission. The native voice is your browser's built-in speech for now, a stopgap. The Brazilian-accent audio shows up only once a real recorded clip exists, no robotic synthesis, so those get added word by word.
